Crystal River, FL -- Downtown Crystal River is getting ready to celebrate the Florida manatee.

The 25th Annual Florida Manatee Festival kicks off on Saturday, Jan. 21 and runs through Sunday Jan. 22.

The two-day event will feature a fine arts show, entertainment, boat tours, a beer and wine garden, food, children's activities and much more. Volunteers are still needed for the event.

Citrus County, FL -- The Art Center of Citrus County has opened registration for youth and adults interested in art, music or dance.  

Better hurry and sign up because there is limited space available. Interested artists have until Jan. 13 to register for winter courses.  

Academy fees are $25 for each 12-week course.

The Nutcracker Ballet

Inverness, FL -- The School of Dance Arts in Inverness will be presenting their 6th annual production of "The Nutcracker 2011", a ballet in two acts, on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at Curtis Peterson Auditorium in Lecanto. 

Students from all areas of Citrus County, ranging in ages from 4 to 18 perform the ballet. 

Tickets are $12 and seating is reserved.  Mark your calendars for this NOT TO BE MISSED annual holiday event.

Pottery Exhibit

The College of Central Florida is getting ready to host the "Green Dragon Collection" by artist Lee Partin.

The pottery exhibit will be at the Dorothea G. Jerome Building, on the Citrus Campus starting Nov. 7 and will run through Nov. 30.

You can visit the exhibit from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

The best part is there is no charge to attend the exhibition.

Citrus County Cooter Fest!

Citrus County Cooter Fest!

Citrus County is getting ready for the Cooter Festival. It's being held in Inverness starting Friday, Oct. 28 and wraps up on Sunday, Oct. 30.

There will be live bands, entertainment, the Cooter Triathlon, car shows, children's activities, hand-made arts and craft vendors and much more.

The new 2011 Miss Cooter will be crowned Friday night on the lawn of the historic Courthouse Square.

More than 12,000 people are expected to attend this year's event.

'Jazz Goes to the Movies' this October

Inverness, FL -- On Oct. 20, "Jazz Goes to the Movies" will be the theme for the first of four Thursday evening live jazz concerts to be held on the 2nd floor of the historic courthouse in downtown Inverness.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Music starts promptly at 7 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m. Slated to perform during the "themed" concerts is an all-start cast of jazz musicians including the band Southern Exposure, along with Norman Bernard and other special featured musicians and vocalists.

The county community center is hosting a comedy night Saturday, Oct. 8. No word yet on who will be performing.

Tickets are $15 and can be bought in advance.
