Citrus County, Florida-- During tough economic times like these, man's best friend may need you most.

This week, Citrus County Animal Services asked citizens to deliver donations of pet food to their local food bank, or to the Animal Services shelter in Inverness, to help struggling pet-owners keep their animals healthy.

According to a release, more residents than ever now depend on help from community food banks to help them get by.

Animal Services Shelter Operations Manager, Pattie Amon, said food supplies are low even though concerned citizens have been helping. On behalf of the owners and their animals who have been helped by donations, she thanked donors for their continuing generosity.
