Woman charged with impersonating a nurse

Inverness, Florida -- A Citrus County woman is behind bars Friday, charged with impersonating a nurse and taking part in home health care for several patients.

Investigators say Rebecca Bilby forged documents to make it appear she had a license. She then took care of patients in nearby Lake County.

She is being held without bond on one count of uttering a forged instrument and seven counts of practicing nursing without a license.

HPH Hospice agrees to settlement in False Claims Act allegations

Tampa, Florida -- The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida announced Monday HPH Hospice, has agreed to pay $1 million to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by submitting false claims for hospice services to the Medicare and Medicaid programs. 

Two arrested on child abuse, child neglect charges

Inverness, Florida -- Two people face child neglect and child abuse charges after a five-week-old child was taken to a hospital with severe head trauma last week.

On July 16, Citrus County Sheriff's detectives were informed about the baby girl's injuries by a Citrus Memorial Hospital ER doctor which included bleeding in her brain, a large bruise on her left temple area, a bruise near her left chin and marks on her abdominal area.

3 meth labs seized in 24 hours in Citrus County

Citrus County, Florida -- Following the bust of a Dunnellon meth lab Thursday night, Citrus County Sheriff's detectives continued their investigations into other active meth labs in the county Friday.

Detectives busted a second meth lab in the 2900 block of Carl G. Rose Highway in Hernando around 10:45 a.m. that resulted in the arrest of five people.

Man arrested again for manufacturing meth

Dunnellon, Florida -- A Dunnellon man was arrested Thursday for making methamphetamine at a home he shared with his girlfriend and a 16-year-old child.

On July 11, deputies were notified about a complaint received by the Department of Children and Families that Sean Kinney and his girlfriend, Cynthia Cummings, were manufacturing and using methamphetamine. Kinney was already on felony probation for manufacturing meth.

Man arrested for impersonating a deputy

Aripeka, Florida -- Pasco County Sheriff''s deputies have arrested a 29-year-old Aripeka man who identified himself as a deputy to a group of people.

Investigators say on July 2, Edward D'Agosta approached the group at a bus stop and identified himself as a Citrus County Sheriff's deputy and patted down another man.

Pasco deputies arrived on the scene and D'Agosta said he was an undercover officer that wasn't true and he was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer.

Elderly couple dead in apparent murder-suicide

Homosassa, Florida -- Citrus County Sheriff's detectives say an elderly couple in their 80's died from an apparent murder-suicide in Sugarmill Woods Wednesday night.

A friend was with the couple at their home on Pine Street when the shooting occurred. The woman told deputies she was over at Rose and Ernest Geisert's home to help one of them who had fallen earlier when she heard muffled bangs.
