Arrest made in Inverness Murder

Inverness, FL - A day after the body of a 57-year old Inverness woman was found behind her rural home, authorities have made an arrest in the case.

Officials say they picked up 69-year old Bob Jay Parsons Tuesday afternoon in connection with the murder of Arlene Preg.

The two lived together in a home at 2108 E. Mary Lue Street.

Preg's body was discovered underneath a sheet of plywood behind the couple's home by one of Preg's daughters on Monday. However, Parsons was no where to be found.

An autopsy has been performed, but the results have not been released.

Parsons was taken into custody Tuesday after a patrol officer spotted his white Chevy pickup off Independence Highway.

"He seemed very un-talkative and I believe he lawyered up once they brought him into the jail," said Citrus County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Gail Tierney.

Detectives still don't have a motive for the killing.

Parsons could make his first court appearance on Wednesday. Meantime, he remains in the county jail.
