Citrus deputy shoots sex offender in his home

Inverness, Florida -- An investigation is under way after an off-duty Citrus County deputy allegedly shot a sex offender who broke into his home.

Investigators say 28-year-old Derrick Vaccianna broke into the home of Deputy Gregory Entrekin, 24, at around 11 p.m. Wednesday, when he was confronted by Entrekin and his girlfriend.

Vaccianna was shot during the confrontation and taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Vaccianna was a registered sex offender on probation at the time of his death.

Fight ends with 1 dead, 2 injured

Beverly Hills, Florida -- A fight between three people in a Citrus County home resulted in one death and two injuries Saturday evening.

Citrus County Sheriff's deputies say when they got to the Beverly Hills home in response to a domestic disturbance they heard gunshots. Once inside, they found three people: One of them, a man in his 60's was found dead, and two others, a woman in her 60's and a man in his 20's were shot. 

Both were airlifted to Shand's Hospital in Gainesville. Their condition is not known at this time.

Murdered woman's family threatens lawsuit, says she was informant

Inverness, Florida -- The family of a 27-year-old mother of two, killed last week near Crystal River, is demanding answers from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.

Jamie Seeger was found shot and killed in her car near the intersection West Cyrus Street and North Reynolds Avenue.

Her family says she was a confidential informant for the sheriff's office and wants to know if that had anything to do with her death.

The case remains unsolved.

"We're all really empty," said her mother, Wendy Moore. "It's really hard."

Police: Woman found shot to death in car

Crystal River, Florida -- Citrus County detectives are investigating the death of a woman found shot in a car early Wednesday morning.

After reports of shots fired, deputies responded to the W. Cyrus Street and N. Reynolds Avenue around 3 a.m. to find a car in the middle of the road. Inside, they found the body of 27-year-old Jamie Seeger, of Crystal River, who they say apparently died of gunshot wounds.

Her body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy while investigators processed the scene.

Police search for suspect in deadly home invasion

Crystal River, Florida -- A home invasion turned into a shootout at a Crystal River home that left one injured and another dead late Wednesday night.

Citrus County deputies say just before midnight two armed men wearing masks kicked in the front door of the home in the 11000 block of Cedar Lake Drive and ordered the woman inside to the ground.

The woman's screams woke up her son who grabbed his gun and went to help. That's when police say shots broke out.

Crystal River, Florida-- At approximately 6:30 Wednesday morning, the Citrus County Sheriff's SWAT team and investigators busted three individuals at a residence for charges involving illegal, controlled substances. 

The team arrived to the home at 2279 N Reynolds Ave, Crystal River and briefly knocked on the door of the residence before they set off a flash grenade and let themselves in.
