Man gets 25 years for killing 2 girlfriends

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing two girlfriends more than 30 years apart.

Jon Good accepted two pleas on Thursdays, both with 25-year sentences that will run concurrently.

The Palm Beach Post reports that 29-year-old Charlene Nelson was found fatally stabbed in beaten in a Lake Park home she had shared with Good in 1979. Investigators found Nelson's car in Orlando with Good's wallet inside, but the never found Good.

Citrus County, FL -- A SWAT team was called out to a Crystal River home Tuesday afternoon after a man who allegedly robbed and attacked a woman fled from police.

According to detectives, 35-year-old Olivia Mason said Scott Buckner offered her a ride while she was walking down Hwy 40 in Ocala after leaving a Dollar General Store.  Mason said she accepted the ride because she knew Buckner through a mutual friend. Mason said Buckner told her he needed to make a couple of stops before he dropped her off.

Minor arrested in teen's murder to be charged as adult

Citrus Springs, FL -- Citrus County Sheriff's Office announced today that 16-year-old Deandre Phillips will be charged as an adult for the death of 18-year-old Fredrick Drew.

Phillips, a student of the Renaissance Center, was arrested on Oct. 2 for shooting and killing the Citrus High student after a fight broke out while at a gathering near Citrus Springs Blvd. and E. Noah Lane.

It's Crime Prevention Month in Citrus County.

The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed the month of October as "Crime Prevention Month" during their board meeting on Sept. 27.

The goal is to get the community involved and work together with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office to keep neighborhoods, schools and workplaces safe.

Police identify shooter in murder-suicide

Dunnellon, FL -- The Citrus County Sheriff's Office has identified the shooter in a murder-suicide, that occurred over the weekend, as 60-year-old Mark Davidson.

Police arrived at the home around 3:30 Saturday afternoon in response to a domestic disturbance at 6439 W. Riverbend Road.

According to police, Davidson shot 63-year-old Leona Field outside the home they shared and then turned the gun on himself.  A friend of the couple, Steven Snowman, of Inveness, was also injured when he tried to intervene.
