Citrus Co., FL-- The Citrus County Commission will meet on Tuesday, December 11 at 1 p.m. at 110 N. Apopka Avenue, Room 100 in Inverness. Beginning at 1:30 p.m., the Board will present Certificates and Proclamations.

  • Proclamation declaring December 11, 2012 as “Dale McClellan, Sunbelt Expo Southeastern Farmer of the Year”.
  • Presentation of the award for “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” by Diane Reichard, CPA, CGMA, CGFO, CPFO, President-Elect of Florida Government Finance Officers Association.

Public Hearings will begin at 2 p.m.

At 2:30 p.m., there will be a public hearing on MSBU/MSTU Revenue Options.  At 3:15 p.m., there will be a public hearing to establish an area of Citrus County as an Enterprise Zone.  During the regular monthly meeting of the Planning and Development Commission, the board unanimously recommended approval to the Enterprise Zone Strategic Plan to the Board of County Commissioners. The proposed zone is in the northwest part of the county along U.S.19 in the Port Citrus area. The County has to apply for the enterprise zone by December 31, 2012. 

County Administrator Brad Thorpe will also ask the Board to approve submission of a new RESTORE Act funding application for the Sugarmill Woods Wastewater Treatment Facility Expansion and Reclaimed Water Upgrades Project.  He will also ask the Board to approve the revised project ranking:

1.       Cross Florida Barge Canal Boat Ramp

2.       Crystal River – Kings Bay Sediment Removal

3.       Sugarmill Woods Wastewater Treatment Facility Expansion and Reclaimed Water Upgrades

4.       Homosassa Southfork Water Quality Improvement Project – Phase IV

5.       Homosassa Wastewater Collection System – Phase V

The meeting, which begins at 1 p.m. in the courthouse in Inverness, is televised live on cable TV on Channel 622 on Brighthouse and Channel 9 on Comcast. The agenda is also available beforehand at the Lecanto Government Building and in the Commissioners’ suite on the second floor of the courthouse in Inverness.
