FWS public meeting on Three Sister Springs crowding

Lecanto, FL -- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff wants to know what you think should be done about overcrowding at Three Sister Springs.

A public meeting on Jan. 4 will give citizens the opportunity to present ideas and management plans for the springs. It will be the first step in figuring out how to deal with boat and human traffic during the winter months when manatees are seeking refuge.

According to the Citrus Chronicle, the FWS is trying to limit the number of kayakers and snorkelers using the springs at one time and is considering regulations to control it.

The meeting will take place on Jan. 4 at the College of Central Florida Citrus Conference Center in Lecanto from 6 to 9 p.m.
