Citrus County, Florida-- Citrus County Cares! Now through September 7, the Nature Coast Volunteer Center and Retired and Senior Volunteer Program are sponsoring the "Two Good Soles" drive, collecting new shoes and socks for children in need.

There are drop off centers around the county including thw following locations:

Driving and Dementia program tomorrow

Inverness, Florida-- Citrus Memorial and the Alzheimer's Association will host the fourth program in a six-part educational series on Alzheimer's and Dementia.

According to the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce,  the program will discuss what happens to driving ability during the Alzheimer’s disease process.

They'll provide attendees with tips for dealing with someone who refuses to give up their drivers license and present available options.

Patriotic evening in Inverness

Inverness, Florida-- On Tuesday, July 3 from 5 - 10 p.m., the City of Inverness will host an Independence Day celebration along lake Henderson.

According to the Citrus County website,  attendees can look forward to FREE food, fireworks and fun for the whole family. 

The fun takes place at Liberty Park & Wallace Brooks Park on Lake Henderson.

Salvation Army continues to service storm victims

 

Lutz, Florida-- The Salvation Army continues to feed and distribute clean-up and personal hygiene kits to residents displaced by Tropical Storm Debby.

The Salvation Army says their canteens (kitchens on wheels) have fed residents in Wakulla, Suwannee and Citrus counties.

Salvation Army volunteers and staff are working in conjunction with the American Red Cross and local emergency managers to make sure residents in local shelters are being properly hydrated and fed.

Lecanto, Florida -- Due to flooding developments with Tropical Storm Debby, Camp Fusion was canceled for Wednesday, June 27.

Camp Fusion is held at the Renaissance Center which is located at 3630 W. Educational Path in Lecanto.

Citrus County, Florida-- In natural disasters, neighbors can make all the difference. Often times, they bring the message to others about being prepared for a disaster, and Citrus County wants to make sure their residents are prepared to help their neighbors.

They are hosting a Neighbor Helping Neighbor Training, sponsored by the Homeland Security Volunteer Team of Citrus County, on Thursday, July 12 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. at the Citrus County Resource Center in Lecanto.

Another opportunity to celebrate Flag Day

Inverness, Florida-- The City of Inverness hosted an event in honor of Flag Day Thursday night, but those of you who save your celebrating for weekends will have another opportunity to take part. 

A second Flag Day celebration will take place at Fort Cooper State Park, 3100 S. Old Floral City Road, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 16. 

The event is free.
