World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Citrus County, Florida-- The Citrus County Resource Center will host a senior safety summit on Friday, June 15 from 11 a.m. - noon.  

This event is being presented by the Citrus Alliance against Adult Abuse and the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.  

Sheriff Jeff Dawsy will be speaking regarding actions our community can take to prevent adult abuse, neglect and exploitation.  

Admission is free.

Inverness, Florida-- It is the Courthouse's 100th Anniversary, and as a part of the celebration, the Greater Inverness Olde Towne Association and the City of Inverness will host a free Blues Concert on the Square.

The concert will feature Cool Corporate Cats.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening in Downtown Inverness.

Inverness, Florida-- On Tuesday, July 3, one of the largest firework presentations in the area will take place over Lake Henderson and Liberty and Wallace Brooks Parks. 

The fun begins at 5:00 p.m., when non-profit food and information booths, live music, children's entertainment and activities will entertain before the fireworks display. 

This event is free!

Two students earn STEPS scholarships

Two students earn STEPS scholarships

Citrus County, Florida-- Two Citrus County elementary school students are receiving scholarships through STEPS (Scholarships Taking Elementary Promising Students). 

The scholarships provide students with the financial means to pay for their college education at Central Florida. 

Robert Hayden is a fifth grader at Floral City Elementary and was awarded a STEPS scholarship last week. 

A student from Pleasant Grove Elementary will also receive the scholarship. 

Summer Swim Lessons

Summer Swim Lessons

Crystal River, Florida-- Summer is almost here and that means it's pool time for many. To help keep kids safe, swim lessons will be offered at the Bicentennial Park Pool in Crystal River. 

The lessons start in June. 

Sessions cost $$30 a session, and they will meet Monday through Thursday for two weeks.

All swim lesson sessions contain eight classes within the two weeks.

Classes are kept to a maximum of five - six participants per instructor, and a minimum of four participants are needed to hold the class.
