Summer Swim Lessons

Crystal River, Florida-- Summer is almost here and that means it's pool time for many. To help keep kids safe, swim lessons will be offered at the Bicentennial Park Pool in Crystal River. 

The lessons start in June. 

Sessions cost $$30 a session, and they will meet Monday through Thursday for two weeks.

All swim lesson sessions contain eight classes within the two weeks.

Classes are kept to a maximum of five - six participants per instructor, and a minimum of four participants are needed to hold the class.

Citrus County, Florida-- According to the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce, the Brashears Pharmacy will hold a free hearing screening from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m on Wednesday, April 11.

Free services will include a hearing screening, visual inspection of the ear canal and a consultation with a USF alumni audiologist.

Attendees can take advantage of free gifts, including hearing aid batteries and noise protection ear plugs.

Inverness, FL -- Citrus Memorial Health System and Publix will host a free cooking course for diabetics on Wednesday, June 22 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Citrus Memorial Auditorium.

“Eating Out the Healthy Way” will be presented by one of Citrus Memorial’s registered dietitians who will instruct participants on how to incorporate healthy selections into their diabetic meal pattern when choosing to eat out.

The class will focus on making small changes in food preparation and menu selection to foster healthier versions of favorite meals.

Citrus Memorial Hospital transitions to electronic medical record system

Inverness, FL -- Citrus Memorial Health System’s internal computer system will be unavailable for staff use Friday, June 10 starting at midnight through Monday, June 13 for a system upgrade.

The system will be down for the weekend as Information Systems staff puts in place a system-wide electronic medical record.

Patients, staff and visitors should be aware that the hospital will still be open for business as usual, but some minor delays should be expected in specific areas while the upgrade takes place.

Citrus County, FL -- In honor of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, The Senior Health and Safety Summit is being held.

Presentations and resources to assist in the prevention of adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation will be held. Several exciting speakers, businesses, and organizations will provide safety services, products, and education.

Judith Stauffer, from the Department of Children and Families, and Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy will be talking to attendees.
