Precautionary boil water notice issued for Citrus Springs neighborhood

Citrus Springs, Florida -- The County has issued a precautionary boil water notice due to a water main break on W. Citrus Springs Boulevard.

The boil water notice will affect homes located at 8528 and 8545 W. Citrus Springs Boulevard and 8556 N. Ronda Drive due to a loss of pressure in the distribution system.

Due to this loss of pressure, the county says the bacteriological quality of water is questionable.  Accordingly, the county is recommending that all water used for consumption and cooking purposes be boiled until further notice.

Citrus County Utilities will be flushing the affected lines and will collect two consecutive days of bacteriological samples as soon as all flushing and disinfecting is completed.  This is a precautionary measure to ensure that the water meets all safe drinking water standards.

This notice will remain in effect until satisfactory bacteriological samples are received.  At that time, your door will be tagged with a rescinding notice.
