STARKE, Florida (AP/WTSP) - A man convicted of killing a 21-year-old woman in the last miles of her long Memorial Day weekend drive across Florida in 1986 is set to face execution.

William Happ is scheduled to receive a lethal injection at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Florida State Prison for the death of Angie Crowley.

Crowley was slain shortly after moving to Florida from Illinois. She was driving from the Fort Lauderdale area to Yankeetown to visit a friend when she was abducted, beaten, raped and strangled.

Crowley was told by her friend to stop at a convenience store in Crystal River, where the friend would meet her and guide her the last miles of the trip. Crowley found the store, but was abducted before she could get to the pay phone.

Happ will be executed with a new sedative called midazolam hydrochloride. Florida was forced to change drugs, after the manufacturer of the previous sedative took steps to prevent states from using the drug in executions.
