Crystal River, Florida -- City Hall will be closed in observance of Labor Day holiday on September 2. 

There WILL NOT be garbage collection on Monday, Labor Day.  Garbage will be collected on Tuesday, September 3rd for those customers normally scheduled on Monday.

County offices closed for September 2 Labor Day Holiday

Citrus County, Florida-- Government offices will be closed Monday, September 2, in observance of Labor Day.

The county landfill, libraries and animal shelter will be closed on Monday, but will return to normal business hours on Tuesday the 3rd.

All Community buildings and parks will be closed, however Bicentennial and Central Ridge pools will be open normal business hours.

City of Crystal River seeks part-time Special Events Coordinator

Crystal River, Florida-- The City of Crystal River has posted a job opening for a part-time Special Events Coordinator. 

The position involves developing and enhancing special events for the city, and using social media and avenues to promote and gain exposure of city events. Experience in special event planning is preferred. 

The position is budgeted for 20 hours a week at no more than $20 per hour. 

Man stabs 3 at CVS pharmacy

CITRUS CO., Florida -- A Virginia man is under arrest after allegedly jumping the counter at a Citrus County CVS pharmacy and stabbing three men.

Witnesses say 31-year-old Jacob Kleintank was seen milling about the store Saturday afternoon. He later returned with an out of state prescription and tried to fill it. When employees refused, he left the store.

According to an affidavit, he returned after midnight and hopped the counter of the pharmacy with a knife in his hand and said, "Give me the drugs."

Rescued boater shares story of full day lost at sea

CRYSTAL RIVER, Florida- Steve Moumouris is grateful he's still around to tell his amazing story of survival.

"I didn't stop fighting it at all but I knew I was going further and further out," said Moumouris.

His ordeal started miles off shore when his boat's engine suddenly stopped as he was on his way back from a fishing trip off the coast of Citrus County. 

With rough weather moving in, he was just about to grab his life vest when an unexpected wave threw him off the boat which quickly drifted out of reach.

Missing boater found alive by good Samaritans

Crystal River, FL - A family of good Samaritans found a boater who had been missing for nearly a full day, alive and bobbing in the water off the coast of Citrus County.

The U.S. Coast Guard says 51-year-old Efstathios "Steve" Moumouris was taken back to shore and transported to the Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center.

Coast Guard crews, along with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission had spent several hours searching for Moumouris in the waters off the Fort Island boat ramp.
