Another opportunity to celebrate Flag Day

Inverness, Florida-- The City of Inverness hosted an event in honor of Flag Day Thursday night, but those of you who save your celebrating for weekends will have another opportunity to take part. 

A second Flag Day celebration will take place at Fort Cooper State Park, 3100 S. Old Floral City Road, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 16. 

The event is free.

"Watch the weather, wait to water"

Inverness, Florida-- The City of Inverness, FL encourages their residents to, "Watch the Weather, Wait to Water."

The Southwest Florida Water Management District wants residents to know that in the Summer months, lawns "need no more than 3/4 inches of water every 2 - 3 days," and they encourage residents to turn off watering systems when forecasts call for rain.

Inverness, Florida-- Due to the observation of Memorial Day on May 28, the County Landfill like the City of Inverness and many other offices, will be closed.

As a result of the landfill being closed, there can be no waste collection on Monday.

For customers who normally receive Monday waste services, collection of household waste will resume on their next regular service day.

Crystal River, Florida-- At approximately 6:30 Wednesday morning, the Citrus County Sheriff's SWAT team and investigators busted three individuals at a residence for charges involving illegal, controlled substances. 

The team arrived to the home at 2279 N Reynolds Ave, Crystal River and briefly knocked on the door of the residence before they set off a flash grenade and let themselves in.

Stamp Out Hunger - leave food at your mailbox on Saturday

Tampa, Florida --  The U.S. Postal Service and its letter carriers ask Tampa residents to join them and the rest of the nation in combating one of the U.S' growing problems, hunger, by leaving food at your mailboxes on Saturday, May 12. 

According to USPS, this one-day food drive is the nation’s largest single-day food drive across America — including Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
