Help those pets in need by donating pet food

Help those pets in need by donating pet food

Citrus County Animal Services officials want citizens to remember the pets of those who must rely on local food banks for help during these difficult economic times.

Operations Manager, Pattie Amon said concerned citizens have been helping, but the food supplies have gotten low again. On behalf of the owners and their animals who have been helped by donations, she thanks all those who have contributed for their continuing generosity which helps others keep their beloved pets.

You can help those residents keep their animals rather than surrender them to the shelter because they can’t afford to feed them by donating pet food to your local food bank or to the Animal Shelter in Inverness.

Soccer Collies at Farmers' Market

In the dog days of summer, here’s something to get a kick out of at the next Inverness Farmers’ Market: soccer playing dogs.

Soccer Collies is the featured entertainment at the Aug. 20 farmers’ market, 8 a.m. to noon in the Inverness Government Center plaza. The dogs will put on a soccer demonstration for families and others at the market.

Ms. Z and BEK – two jersey wearing collies who have learned the sport – will be featured at the Great American Cooter Festival in October. As a preview, the soccer demonstrations will be going on during the market hours.
