Tuesday, May 7, a city council meeting will be held to provide city-related information to citizens. 

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and takes place at the Inverness Government Center, 212 West Main Street.

Citrus County, Florida -- The Board of County Commissioners is seeking candidates for an open position on the Aviation Advisory Board.

The member participates in all discussions and debates of the board and the term expires on Jan. 31, 2015.

Citizens invited to North Lecanto Highway Corridor Planning Study

Citizens invited to North Lecanto Highway Corridor Planning Study

Citrus, Florida -- Citrus County is preparing a planning study for a corridor segment of North Lecanto Highway (CR 491). The segment, designated as the CR 491 Corridor Planning Project, extends from SR 44 north to CR 486. 

The study will identify needed infrastructure improvements in order to provide a strategic planning approach, which will guide development along the corridor and its future widening.

The study will include travel necessities, public water and sewer amenities, comprehensive storm water management systems, and other essential utility services.

Planning & Development Commission meeting

Lecanto, Florida -- The Citrus County Planning and Development Commission (PDC) will meet Thursday, Jan. 3, at 9 a.m., in room 166 in the Lecanto Government Building.

The Board reviews development applications and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on changes to the Citrus County Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code.

The PDC also provides direction to staff regarding land use amendments as well as test amendments on development issues.

Applicants sought for Tourist Development Council

Citrus County, Florida -- The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications for three expiring positions on the Citrus County Tourist Development Council.

The council is responsible for overseeing the spending of bed tax revenue, providing operational oversight for the Citrus County Visitors & Convention Bureau, developing a Tourist Development Plan, and making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on tourism-related issues.

Parking restrictions lifted at Courthouse for emergency meeting

Inverness, Florida -- The Citrus County BOCC has announced that parking restrictions around the Courthouse will be lifted Friday during its emergency meeting,

Commissioners will meet beginning at 10 a.m. in the Commission Meeting Room to discuss the issues and impacts of Duke Energy's failure to pay their assessment as determined by the Citrus County Property Appraiser.

The public is encouraged to attend.
