It's happening Thursday evening, October 25 at 7 p.m. on the second floor courtroom at the Historic Courthouse in downtown Inverness.

No tax increase for SWFWMD

Tampa Bay, Florida -- Although the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) increased its operating budget by $4.5 million for the coming fiscal year, property owners will not pay a higher tax to the state agency responsible for flood control and surface and groundwater quality in the Tampa Bay area.

Tuesday night the Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board approved the 2012-13 fiscal year budget and millage (or tax) rate. The fiscal year starts Monday, Oct. 1.

Inverness, Florida-- The Inverness Government Center Council Chambers will once again be transformed into an Early Voting facility for the Primary & General elections.

Early Voting for the Primary election begins Saturday, August 4, and ends Saturday, August 11.

Saturday & Sunday hours are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., with Monday through Friday hours lasting from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

During the days of Early Voting, all precinct voters can use the Inverness Government Center to cast their vote.

Citrus County, Fla. -- The Citrus County Affordable Housing Authority Committee has announced the appointment of Kim Farrar (Low Income Advocate), Harvey Gerber (Real Estate Professional), Nancy Smith (Planner), Barbara Wheeler (Citrus County Resident) and Ron Lieberman (For Profit Provider of Affordable Housing Repo) to the committee.

Commission Chairman, Winn Webb officiated the ceremony on Tuesday, Feb 21.

Administrator proposes reorganization of County government

Citrus County, FL -- The county says since the June 2011 departure of the Deputy County Administrator, County Administrator Brad Thorpe has evaluated the organizational structure of Senior Staff.

Thorpe is recommending to the board to revise the structure of Senior Staff and utilize two (2) existing Department Director positions to create a dual- role position to fulfill the duties previously handled by the Deputy Administrator.  Effective Feb. 14, Ken Frink, Director of Public Works and Cathy Pearson, Community Services Director will now be Assistant County Administrators.

Citrus County, FL -- The Citrus County Affordable Housing Committee is currently accepting application for six positions that will expire Jan. 31.

The open positions are for:

  • Real Estate Professional
  • Not –for – Profit Affordable Housing Provider
  • Low Income Advocate
  • Citrus County Resident
  • For-Profit Affordable Housing Provider
  • Planner in connection with the affordable housing member position

The positions are two-year terms. Applicants must be residents and registered voters in Citrus County.
