See 'Shark Tale' Saturday at Bicentennial Park

Crystal River, Florida -- Grab you blanket and head over to Bicentennial Park's pool on Saturday for the free showing of "Shark Tale".

This mafia movie, set in the world of saltwater fish, is the story of what happens when the son of the shark boss (Robert De Niro) of a fish crime family is killed by a dropped anchor, and a bottom-feeder named Oscar (Will Smith) is found at the scene of the crime.

Citrus County, Florida-- The Board of County Commissioners voted during the regular board meeting on Tuesday, July 24 to set a special meeting for a public hearing on the adoption of two resolutions related to the 2010 Citrus County/ City of Crystal River Wastewater Special Assessment District-Areas 112 and 113. 

This unanimous vote came after concerns were raised regarding the Notice. The board decided to pull the Public Hearing from the agenda and set a special meeting.

According to the City of Inverness, shoppers can peruse through a fine selection of  fresh fruits and vegetables, honey, jams and jellies, soaps and lotions, breads and pastries, seafood, cookbooks & recipes, handmade crafts and more.

The market is open all year, on the first and third Saturday of each month.

Inverness, Florida-- Cars and trucks from all decades will roll on in to the plaza of city hall next Friday night for the Friday Night Thunder Car Show .

Attendees will check out classics, antiques and sports cars, and even imports, just as they did at the last event on May 18.

According to the City of Inverness, the event offers more than just an amazing assortment of cars. Attendees will enjoy music, prize giveaways, concessions and more.

Homosassa, Florida -- Bring the family and head out to Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park Saturday, March 31 for Homosassa Heritage Day.

People attending will have free admission to all activities in the Florida Room at the Visitor Center including exhibits the history of the park and the Homosassa area.

Anyone interested in the event is invited to attend. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4150 S. Suncoast Blvd., Homosassa.

Fort Island Gulf Beach is now open!

Fort Island Gulf Beach is now open!

Crystal River, Florida -- Citrus County Parks and Recreation has announce the opening of Fort Island Gulf Beach in Crystal River Saturday, March 24, after completing a beach renourishment project.

Maintenance crews have finished ahead of schedule and under budget. The original completion date was Friday, March 30, 2012.

The county says total of 1,625 tons of sand was delivered to the beach for a material cost of $47,775.  Labor and equipment cost have been reduced by finishing ahead of schedule.

Tennis courts temporarily closed

Inverness, Florida -- According to the City of Inverness, new energy-efficient lighting is being installed at the Whispering Pines tennis courts. 

The city says the courts will be closed for play from March 20 thru April 12 to allow the contractor to install new poles and add the lights.

The city apologizes for any inconvenience but be assured, if work is completed prior to Thursday, April 12, they will "serve up" news that the courts are available again and better than ever, for evening play.
