Children's Wildlife Jeopardy Program

Homosassa, FL -- Children can get out an explore Saturday, Jan. 14 during the Children's Wildlife Jeopardy Program.

The program will focus on amphibians and will take place between noon and 12:30 p.m. at the Children's Education Center at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park.

There is no fee for the program but you will have to pay to get into the park.

Veteran's Day closures in Citrus County

Veteran's Day closures in Citrus County

In observance of the Veteran's Day holiday, all Citrus County government offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11.

The offices will reopen on Monday, Nov. 14.

The libraries will also be closed but will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 12 with their regular hours.

The Citrus County Landfill will close early Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Beverly Hills, FL -- Citrus County is excited about the fresh new look at the Central Ridge Community Center in Beverly Hills. County maintenance crews worked around the clock throughout the 37-acre site.

The county gives a special thank you to the Department of Public Works and the Grounds Maintenance crews who shoveled through weeds, tall grass and general maintenance to bring the area back to its original beauty.  Mosquito Control applied herbicide around buildings, trees and other structures to control insects and pests.

Beverly Hills, FL -- The Beverly Hills Recreation Center is getting a facelift!

At the request of the Beverly Hills Recreation Association, the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners officially took over the Beverly Hills Recreation Center on Wednesday, Oct 26.

The County says they are excited to step in with vigor to revitalize and give a fresh look to the Beverly Hills Recreation Center.  County maintenance crews immediately began a comprehensive beautification campaign on Thursday, Oct 27.

Discovery Channel heads to Citrus County

Citrus County, FL -- Discovery Channel heads to Citrus County this week for part of its new series, "Small Towns, Good Feelings".

The series will showcase everything the county has to offer including warm Gulf waters, spring-fed rivers, gentle manatees, fishing and plenty of lakes, not to mention several quaint shopping districts.

Discovery Channel will be in the area Sept. 22 - 25 mainly in Homosassa Springs, Crystal River and Chassahowitzka.

Cooter Pond Boardwalk now open

Inverness, FL -- Pressure washed and sealed, the Cooter Pond boardwalk is like new and ready to receive visitors.

Enjoy a stroll and take pride in the work completed, while likely experiencing encounters with some of the local natural wildlife.

Next up is Liberty Park. The city will be closing parts of the Liberty Park boardwalk at various times to complete the work and apologize for the temporary inconvenience.

Celebrate Fall in the youth room at Lake Region Library on Saturday, September 24.

There will be a variety of nifty assorted crafts to be made and some yummy treats to be eat.
