Citrus County, Florida -- Citrus County Building and Engineering divisions will be having a FEMA Firm (Flood Insurance Rate Map) Open House at the Lecanto Government Building, room #166 on Thursday, September 26.

THe meeting will last from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Representatives from FEMA, SWFWMD and Insurance Companies will be available to answer questions.

New flood hazard map information will also be available.

Citrus County Offers First Time Homebuyers Class

Citrus County Housing Services is offering First Time Homebuyers classes to interested individuals.  One classroom session will be held this month.  There is no charge to attend these sessions, but you must reserve your seat. 

Participants who attend the entire session will receive a Certificate of Completion that is required for Neighborhood Stabilization Program and other first time homebuyer assistance programs.

Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Meet

Citrus County, Florida-- On Tuesday, March 19, 2013 the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee will meet at 5 p.m. in room 166 of the Lecanto Government Building.  

The committee was formed to improve the housing situation in Citrus County by studying and developing projects, coordinating with county staff and by making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.  

On the agenda will be Hardest Hit, SHIP, CDBG, NSP 1 and 3, Section 8, Shelter Plus Care and Emergency Solutions Grant.

County offers Emergency Home Energy Assistance for elderly

Citrus County, Florida -- Citrus County Support Services currently has funds available for the Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP). This is a sister program of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

Income eligible clients who are 60 years and older are able to receive assistance once per season. There are two seasons in the year; The Cooling Season which runs April 1 to Sept. 30 and a Heating Season which runs Oct. 1 to March 31.

Citrus County, Florida-- Citrus County Housing Services is offering First Time Homebuyers classes to interested individuals.  One classroom session will be held this month.  There is no charge to attend these sessions, but you must reserve your seat.

The session will be held on Saturday, May 12, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Suarez Home & Finance Corp., 51 West Fort Dade Ave. Brooksville, FL 34601.

First time home buyer classes

Citrus County, Florida-- Citrus County Housing Services is offering first time home buyers a free class on April 14.

The class starts at 8:30am and ends at 4:30pm, and will be held at the Citrus County Resource Center, 2804 W. Marc Knighton Ct.  Lecanto, FL  34461.  

Attendees must must reserve a seat before the event.  

The class is a requirement for the Neighborhood Stabilization Program and the SHIP Program.

Citrus County Utilities offers customer rebate program

Citrus County Utilities has kicked off the 2012 rebate program.

The program is offered to its’ utility customers on an annual basis with rebates of up to $100 issued as incentive to replace older inefficient fixtures with high-efficiency products.  Qualifying products include replacing old toilets, rain sensors and clothes washing machines, as well as adding moisture sensors to irrigation systems.
