First time home-buyers can get some important information during a free class on Thursday, Dec. 15.

It's being held at the Citrus County Resource Center at 2804 W. Marc Knighton Court, Lecanto, Room 114, from 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.

The class will cover home security, fire prevention, finding a real estate agent, fair housing, buying an existing home, homeowners insurance and much more.

Citrus County, FL -- This weekend the Citrus County Housing Services will hold open houses at 6 properties.

The department received $3.9 million in funding to purchase foreclosed properties and sell or rent them to low to moderate income households at or below 120 percent of the area median income which is $57,000.

Buyers in the program must occupy the property as their primary residence and may not currently own a home.

Citrus County, FL -- People needing help paying their utilities can attend a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Citrus County's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program will host the meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Citrus County Resource Center in Lecanto.

Citrus County, FL -- The federal government has allocated funding to help pay the mortgages of qualified homeowners who are unemployed or underemployed through no fault of their own.

Citrus County Housing Services is holding a seminar Aug. 8 at the Coastal Region Library, 8619 W. Crystal St., regarding eligibility for this assistance.

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program Info

Citrus County, FL -- Citrus County Housing Services will open its waiting list for Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 25. The waiting list will remain open for pre-applications through 5 p.m. on May 2.

For the first time in several years, Citrus County Housing Services will be accepting pre-applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

It is a federally-funded rental assistance program provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for very low income families, especially those who fit one or more of a number of specific local preferences.
