County offices closed for September 2 Labor Day Holiday

Citrus County, Florida-- Government offices will be closed Monday, September 2, in observance of Labor Day.

The county landfill, libraries and animal shelter will be closed on Monday, but will return to normal business hours on Tuesday the 3rd.

All Community buildings and parks will be closed, however Bicentennial and Central Ridge pools will be open normal business hours.

Fingerprinting resumes at Citrus County Emergency Operations Center

Lecanto, Florida-- After a temporary hiatus for equipment repairs, fingerprinting services have now resumed at the Emergency Operations Center in Lecanto.

The fingerprinting service is offered to anoyone of the general public undergoing a state-required background check for employment and applying for a concealed weapon/firearm permit- among other circumstances.

County Sheriff's Officials thank anyone affected for being patient during the time it took to repair the equipment. 

Citrus County Offers First Time Homebuyers Class

Citrus County Offers First Time Homebuyers Class

Citrus County Housing Services is offering First Time Homebuyers classes to interested individuals.  One classroom session will be held this month.  There is no charge to attend these sessions, but you must reserve your seat. 

Participants who attend the entire session will receive a Certificate of Completion that is required for Neighborhood Stabilization Program and other first time homebuyer assistance programs.

New Recycling Drop-off Center in NW Citrus County

Citrus County, Florida-- Citrus County's carbon footprint could soon decrease, or at least that's the hope as the Division of Solid Waste Management announces the addition of a new Recycling Drop-off Center in the northwest part of the county. 

According to county commissioners, officials feel the new center's location will make it convenient for more residents to recycle, so the county as a whole can come closer to meeting established recycling goals.

Smoke Alarm Program for Seniors in June

Citrus County, Florida -- Seniors in Citrus County can get help with their smoke alarms.  The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners, Nature Coast Volunteer Center has been awarded the Communities for a Lifetime grant from the state of Florida Department of Elder Affairs.  

The purpose of this program is to provide and install smoke alarms through the month of June for seniors in need age 60 and older. The overall objective is to help at-risk seniors age in a place safely and independently.

Not only can you get fresh vegetables and fruit, but you can also adopt a new pet! Citrus County Animal Services will be at the Farmers Market with animals for adoption.  

You will have the opportunity to adopt them on the spot.

Citrus County, Florida-- The Citrus County Board of County Commissioners and Keep Citrus County Beautiful will be hosting a free disposal spring cleanup day at the central landfill on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm.  Businesses will be charged business rates.
