The event will feature free Zumba classes, weight loss screenings, hearing tests, health screenings, raflles, contests and much more!

No trash pick-up Monday

Inverness, Florida-- Labor Day means no trash pick-up, according to the City of Inverness website.

Their head-linging story says:

"In observance of Labor Day, September 3rd, City offices will be closed as will other government facilities, one being the Citrus County Landfill. If your residence is scheduled for waste removal on Monday, it will not be picked up. For City of Invenress residents, waste pick up will return to the normal schedule.

Inverness, Florida -- You can get fresh fruits and vegetables this weekend. The Inverness Farmers' Market will take place Saturday, August 18 from 8 a.m. until noon.

There will be a wide selection of locally produced fruits and vegetables, plants and flowers, in addition to herbs, soaps, honey, and other items.

The market's intent is to educate customers on cooking and eating healthy, landscaping, proper plant and flower care and other topics, in addition to showcasing what the community has to offer.

Citrus, Polk, Sarasota counties can now apply for FEMA assistance

Tallahassee, Florida -- Tropical Storm Debby survivors in Citrus, Gilchrist, Lafayette, Polk and Sarasota counties in Florida can now apply for federal disaster assistance.

FEMA released the following information residents can use to apply for aid.

PVI switched out water meters Tuesday

Inverness, Florida-- The PVI Meter team works "behind the scenes" to provide top notch water & sewer services to the Inverness community, but they say they were vsible all over town this past Tuesday. 

According to the City of Inverness website, on Tuesday, work crews with either yellow or blue "PVI Meter Team" shirts hit the streets to test, remove and replace meters as needed.

If the meter needed to be removed & replaced, a 30 minute exchange, requiring a temporary water shut off, took place.
