No Memorial Day trash pick-up

Inverness, Florida-- Due to the observation of Memorial Day on May 28, the County Landfill like the City of Inverness and many other offices, will be closed.

As a result of the landfill being closed, there can be no waste collection on Monday.

For customers who normally receive Monday waste services, collection of household waste will resume on their next regular service day.

Lecanto, Florida -- Selecting plants for your backyard is pretty easy, as long as you know a few simple rules. 

You can learn how to choose beautiful, low maintenance plants for your yard during a free class. 

It's being held in the Citrus County UF/IFAS Extension classroom, 3650 W. Sovereign Path in Lecanto on Tuesday, May 22.

It starts at 3 p.m. and runs until 4:30 p.m.  The class is free but space is limited.

Inverness, Florida-- The City of Inverness is now featuring the Jazzin' Bean Coffee House in the "Business Spotlight" on their website.

According to the site, they highlight new businesses within the community to promote success of the business itself, and in turn, the city. They take promotion beyond opening day, and extend it to ensure awareness within the community.

Inverness, Fla. -- In conjunction with the Inverness Farmers Market, the Olde Inverness Antiques and the City of Inverness will feature antique dealers from all over at the second Antique Fair on Saturday, March 3.

The event runs from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

5th Annual Cinderella's Closet dress giveaway

Inverness, FL -- Calling all Cinderellas! Looking for the perfect prom dress? The 5th Annual Cinderella’s Closet prom dress giveaway event is this Saturday, Jan. 28.

Last year, 120 girls from area high schools found dresses suited for the special occasion. The first year they served 35 girls and had about 300 dresses to choose from.

This year, event coordinator Dana Davis estimates they have about 700 dresses, all donated from individuals and local businesses.

The farmers market will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

There will be a large selection of fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, soaps and much more.

The farmers market starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2012, and runs until 1 p.m. There will be fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, flowers and much more.
