Parks and Rec to hold youth golf lessons

Beverly Hills, Florida-- Citrus County Parks and Recreation will be holding golf lessons.

The golf lessons will be held at Pine Ridge Golf Course on Wednesday or Thursday evenings beginning September 5 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The five-week clinic will cover full swing, chipping, pitching, putting, course etiquette, and actual golf course play for a fee of $50.

Inverness, Florida-- Disc Golf is a sport rising in popularity, and the Citrus Disc Golf Club and Whispering Pines Park are on the bandwagon. 

On August 17 and 18, they invite experienced disc golf players to participate in the Whispering Pines Open.

They guarantee the event to be a lot of fun, and emphasize that it is for a good cause, the Citrus United basket.

"Novice or never tried Disc Golf? Explore the game, as well as the official course that winds its way through the perimeter areas of Whispering Pines Park.

Walk a Mile in My Shoes

Lecanto, Florida -- The Key Walk a Mile in My Shoes race is taking place Saturday, July 21.  Walk a mile in my shoes is a group participation event where teams of 10 or more sign up to support a Key Training Center client.  

The Key Training Center is a private nonprofit Florida organization dedicated to serving adults who have developmental disabilities and the condition mental retardation.

Citrus County, Florida-- The City of Invermess website announces today as the final day to sign up for the last session of this season's swim classes, which kick off Monday.

There are three different morning sessions, offering varied age/skill levels of training, offered in the Monday-Thursday two-week sessions.

Each class has a maximum of six students to enable each participant to receive personal assistance.

All teachers are certified as Water Safety Instructors by the American Red Cross.

Citrus County, Florida-- Time to get out your snorkels and masks...Scallop Season is in full swing in Citrus County.  Known as Scallop Country, Citrus County has some of the best recreational scalloping in the world. 

Boaters and scallopers flock to places like Crystal River and Homosassa to bag their scallops.  The season lasts through September 25. 

Citrus County's bay scallops sit in seagrass beds under five or six feet of water on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.
