The Dragon Boat Regatta returns!

Homosassa, FL -- Homosassa's 2nd Annual Festival with Dragon Boat Regatta is coming back to town.

The Dragon Boat Festival will have 300m sprints, a 1k marathon and barrel races. Entry fee is just $300 for a team. Boats, paddles and pfd's provided.

The Canoe-kayak races will be held Sunday, April 17.

Citrus County, FL -- Tickets available for "Guns 'n Hoses" basketball benefit April 15 .


The Annual Relay for Life Basketball Game between Citrus County Fire Rescue and the Citrus County Sheriff's Office will be on April 15 at the Crystal River High School Gym.


Billed as the Guns 'n Hoses game, the fundraiser will begin at 7 p.m. Ticket donations are $5 and will be available at the door.

Dave Meredith has been practicing Tai Chi for roughly 11 years and would now like to pass his love of the art on to you. This stretching exercise is great for both mind and body. It helps improve physical balance, muscle tone, strength, flexibility, circulation, blood pressure and respiration.

Fishing Tournament this weekend

Fishing Tournament this weekend

Crystal River, FL -- The Troutmasters Fishing Tournament will be held this Saturday, March 5, at Pete's Pier Marina in Crystal River.

The entry fee is $25 per person and kids fish free with their parents. There is a 100% payback after expense.

A weigh-in contest will also be held. The heaviest two trout and one redfish combined, will determine the winner.

A fish fry will follow the tournament.

Youth sports program kicking off soon

Crystal River, Florida -- Registration is now open for basketball, flag football, and cheerleading for children ages 3-5 as part of the P.L.A.Y. Program (Preparing Little Athletes Youth Program), sponsored by Citrus County Parks and Recreation.

The program will teach children the basics of various sports through one-hour, weekly practices. The young participants will build self-esteem and confidence as they learn to play with a team of other children in a fun and safe environemtn.

Team t-hirts will be provided for each child as well as age-appropriate sports equipment with which to play the game.

Disc Golf at Whipering Pines Park

Inverness, FL -- Players can now use the Disc Golf course at Whispering Pines Park.

Whispering Pines received a face-lift back in November. 18 new baskets now adorn the the hilly terrain and wooded background. This upgrade makes the 18 hole course more attractive for many sports and activities, including disc golf.

For those who are not familiar with the game of disc golf, it is played like typical golf, only players use frisbee-like discs instead of golf clubs and balls. The object of the game is to use the least amount of throws to reach each basket and receive the least amount of penalties. The player receiving the lowest score wins.
